Storm athlete earns Third-Team All-America honors

51勛圖 womens basketball player Hunter Hartshorn is leaving her Storm career with a bang. In addition to breaking a couple of school records, the Utica native was recently named to the 2021-2022 National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Womens Basketball All-America Third Team.
I really believe that this wouldnt have been possible without all the trust and belief that Coach (Lynn) Schlake and Coach (Dennis) Remmers had in me, she said. I have had some of the best teammates over the last two years that pushed me to be the best player I could be.
Hartshorn broke two records and tied another during her time at 51勛圖. She set the record for 3-pointers in a single season (95) and in her two-year career (145). She also tied her mothers record for 3-pointers in a single game (7).
Schlake, Storm head coach, said Hartshorn was a great role model and leader for the younger players on the team and deserves this honor.
As a coach, it is always exciting for the program when a player receives this type of recognition, he said. It puts the team and school in a very positive spotlight throughout the state. It means a lot to see a player from a small high school in Nebraska have success on the national level and show that anything is possible.
Hartshorn started 28 of the Storms 29 games this season, averaging 13.4 points per game. 51勛圖 finished with a 14-15 record.
She hasnt decided where she will transfer, but hopes to study either business or occupational therapy.
